Google, What’s Going on? You are Getting Spammed!

Written by Musa

Ok so recently I have been looking at a few positions throughout the search results and I came across the keyword “hot tubs”, my first glimpse from an SEO perspective is, what the hell is going on here? Then when I had a closer look all I could see was abysmal black hat techniques being performed.

If you go to Google right now and type in “Hot Tubs”, you will get a list of Top 10 results which in fact (in my view) do not deserve to be there. Straight away I come across a number of titles that could be perceived as meta title spamming!

When was it ever ok to write a title like this?

Product | Products | Your Products UK. (example)

There is absolutely no use in this title accept for manipulating the search results, this does not give any information whatsoever to the user. If you then carry on looking through the results you will clearly see that titles are oversaturated with keywords.

But that is not all, for the ones that are not keyword spamming, the only way they are up there is with a huge network of paid links (yes I have had a look to see where juice is coming from).

Google have recently released a glimpse of what the search engine was like 10 years ago. Looking at this set of search results for “Hot Tubs” it’s as if they have switched back to there old algo!

Google please do not turn into a spam farm, people love you because you deliver the most relevant results. You should crack down on these unuser friendly techniques of manipulating your search results like this.
